IIT Madras calling for Summer Fellowship Programme - 2019

The IITM - Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Eligibility:Candidates pursuing 3rd year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg) or 3rd or 4th year of Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme, 1st year of ME/M.Tech/M.Sc./M.A, MBA with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained. [IIT students are not eligible to apply].

Period of the Project: Duration of the programme may commence from 20th May 2019 to 19th July 2019. (Schedule may be flexible to suit student’s convenience.)

Stipend: A sum of Rs.6000/- per month will be given as a stipend for a maximum period of 2 months.

Applications invited for Summer Internship Programme 2018

IISER Pune invites applications from research oriented students to participate in its Summer Student Programme, 2018. Successful applicants will have an opportunity to participate in the research programmes of IISER-Pune faculty. Research activities in IISER-Pune span both theory and experiment in biology, chemistry, earth and climate science, humanities and social sciences, mathematics and physics with a strong focus on interdisciplinary research. These summer projects are also an opportunity for students to evaluate the suitability of various programmes at IISER-Pune (Integrated PhD and PhD) for future career choice.

This application form is meant for students of educational institutions other than those of IISER-Pune.

Summer projects selected through the Indian Academy of Science will not have to go through this registration process.

Eligibility & Requirements

1. Students currently (at the time of application) studying in the
• 2^nd, 3^rd, or 4^th year of B.Sc/B.Tech/B.E or equivalent
• 1^st year of M.Sc/M.Tech or equivalent.


2. Minimum 60% (or equivalent) in overall grades, or 80% in the particular stream(s) of interest.


3. Selecting a project for application.

• You may go through the webpages of the faculty to confirm that your interests overlap, and to obtain an idea of their research methods.
• every project has a requirement in terms of knowledge and skills. Please do not apply for a project that you are not equipped to undertake. It will be a waste of your time
• If you need further technical information on the project, send a single email to the concerned faculty. Please do not send additional emails in the absence of a response.
• You may apply for up to 2 projects


4. Project duration: 4 - 8 weeks during the period May 15^th – July 15^th, 2018.

Other Details

1. IISER-Pune will support the selected summer students with a (free) room in the students' hostel.
   However, we are unable to provide any financial support to cover the cost of travel and boarding in the hostel mess (about Rs. 6000 per month)
2. The performance of students will be evaluated at the end of the project and the same conveyed to their parent institute.

J. N. Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship for Postgraduate/Ph.D./Postdoctoral studies/Research Fellowships

The J. N. Tata Endowment awards a one-time loan scholarship to Indian nationals only at the beginning of the course for full time Postgraduate/Ph.D./Postdoctoral studies/Research Fellowships, in all fields, irrespective of caste, creed, gender or community. The amount to be awarded to each scholar by way of loan scholarship is determined on the basis of the norms laid down for the purpose, and ranges between Rs.1,00,000/- and Rs.10,00,000/-. All selected scholars do not necessarily qualify for the maximum amount.

The selected scholars may also be recommended for a gift scholarship and travel assistance from our allied Trusts as may be decided at the sole discretion of the Trustees of the concerned Trusts. A gift scholarship can be for a maximum amount of Rs.7,50,000/- and the travel grant can be a maximum of Rs.50,000/-.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be Indian nationals who are graduates of a recognised Indian University, with a consistently good academic record and other achievements to their credit. Students in the final year of the degree course and those awaiting results are eligible to apply. Candidates may apply even if they do not have the admission/offer letters, at the time of making the application, from the Universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2018-2019, and may, therefore, update their application status with the Endowment once they secure admission. Mid-career professionals up to the age of 45, with a good academic record and experience in their fields, specialisation or training may also apply. Scholars going abroad for seminars, conferences and undergraduate studies are not eligible for a J. N. Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship.

Application Process

·        Candidates have to register for the J N Tata Endowment loan scholarship for the year 2018-2019 by using their email I.D.

·        After successful registration, a one-time password will be sent to the registered email I.D. which will be valid for 48 hours. Candidates can login using their registered email I.D. and password to proceed further.

·        Candidates have to change their password within 48 hours.

·        Candidates may complete the application form online in one visit or more than one visit but must remember to save the draft before exiting each time. There is a preview option before final submission.

·        Candidates should upload the following only in a pdf format:

·        A statement of purpose(not more than 800 words).

·        A scanned copy of a recommendation letter specifically addressed to the Trustees of the J. N. Tata Endowment on the respective letterhead with full address, telephone and mobile numbers OR from the official email address of:

·     a Professor of the College or University OR

·     the Employer, in case the applicant is / was working.
